Such a typical street shot, the kind of which both you and I might take. Yet the only reason it seems iconic perhaps is because of the age. I’m not even going to mention the added affect of monochrome, because at that time it’s all there was, so it’s an arbitrary factor.
You’re right that in the absence of age, it would seem rather mundane. I guess that’s what’s hard to see in new photos. They did have colour at that time, but it was mostly used in adverts.
